CHOWDER CUP CAMPS
These premier national tournaments are for young men born between the years of 1990-95. Each year, hundreds of players aim to impress scouts and coaches as they vie for the coveted championship. At RB Hockey, we believe the best way to showcase individual players is through TEAM excellence. Together Everyone Achieves More.
Through dynamic practices, off-ice team building exercises, community meals and dorm living, players will form lasting friendships as together we compete against 79 other teams from across the country during the July Tournaments. Games will be played at several Massachusetts rinks, including Iorio Arena and Foxboro Sports Center.
During our On-Ice sessions players will experience a combination of our AAA Total Hockey Skills and Game Situation Camp. Our staff will cover all skills of hockey including: skating techniques, puck control, passing, positional drills, over speed training, forward and defenseman focused drills, odd and even man rushes, shooting, checking, team work and team building drills.
KIDS SPORTS CAMP
Kids love to play hockey and enjoy new learning experiences, but the typical 4-5 hours of daily on-ice practice offered by traditional hockey camps is just too much for them, and for most kids their age, to handle for multiple weeks. That’s why we’re offering an exciting alternative!
We have put together a total sports camp for kids that incorporates hockey as well as other fun activities such as Dodgeball, Lacrosse, Kickball, Whiffle ball, Basketball, Capture the Flag, obstacle courses and more. Players will enjoy between 7-9 hours of on-ice instruction by our knowledgeable and dedicated staff. We’ll augment time on the ice with a trip to Canobe Lake. Camp will run from 9:00am to 5:00pm each day. Our staff is young, energetic and every instructor has extensive experience in multiple sports. Your kids are sure to have a blast each day, learning while having fun.
GAME SITUATION CAMP
Taking place in Massachusetts, Rhode Island & New Jersey, this camp is one of the player’s favorites! We teach the game of hockey. Our game situation drills will focus on the forward and defenseman aspects of real game play. Defenseman - angling, gap control, net play, support drills, at the point, odd and even man rushes, pinning & checking. Forwards - winning the battles, attacking the triangle, power moves, tipping, odd and even man rushes, puck protection and checking. These drills will help each player understand the game and teach reaction with confidence. 4 hours of ice each day and 1 hour classroom talk.
AAA CAMP
This intense four day camp is strictly for elite players who will be challenged each day by complex drills, fellow elite players and the high expectations of our experienced coaching staff. Drills are designed for athletes who have already mastered the fundamentals. We utilize advanced training techniques, including on-ice over speed resistance training, and off-ice accelerated conditioning geared toward building speed, strength and endurance, to push players to their full potential. In addition, daily chalk talk and game reviews help players refine their positioning abilities and strategic skills so they can excel in every aspect of the game.
STICKHANDLING & SHOOTING
At RB Hockey’s Stickhandling and Shooting Camp we focus on the specific stickhandling skills required by forwards and defensemen in order to be effective at these positions. We systematically break down the fundamentals of stickhandling and shooting at the beginning of the week and progress to high-speed stickhandling, deking and shooting. Players participate in confrontational drills against players in their age group, making the drills more game-like and reactionary. Throughout the camp, players are closely monitored by our experienced instructors who give direction on improving play in each situation.
WHAT WILL BE COVERED: STICKHANDLING & SHOOTING CHALLENGE: Skating speed, passing abilty, foot speed & agility, puck control, stickhandling. SCORING CHALLENGE: Over speed skating, one-time and saucer passes, standing in front, fast feet agility, playing in the corners, stickhandling, heads-up hockey, reading & reacting, tight turns & driving wide, one-on-one, and odd-man rushes, playing without the puck, clearing the zone.
DEFENSEMAN DAY CAMP
At RB Hockey’s Defenseman Camp you’ll learn critical position-specific skills and tactics, including defensive and offensive skills to gain the extra edge in game situations. Our drills will focus on the defenseman aspects of real game play. Support drills at the point, winning the 1 on 1 battles, attacking the triangle, power moves, odd and even man rushes and checking. These drills will help players understand their specific position and teach reaction with confidence.
GAME SITUATION CONFRONTATIONAL DRILLS: Using a variety of game-situation drills, we’ll teach the defenseman how to angle players to keep them away from their net. In-front coverage, stepping up in the play, and closing the gap while keeping your feet moving. Reversing and breaking the puck out of the D-Zone willl also be addressed. Players participate in confrontational drills against players in their age group, making the drills more game-like and reactionary.
WHAT WILL BE COVERED: Defensive tactics layering, reversing puck, angling, gap control, net play, puck protection. The smartest hockey player has to be well skilled. With this in mind we will be covering power skating, forward and backward strides, proper body positioning, explosive forward and backward acceleration, high-speed starts, pivots, turns and stops, and puck control.
TOTAL HOCKEY SKILLS
Our week-long “Total Skills” camp features creative and progressive drills that stress proper skating, shooting and hockey technique. This camp covers offensive and defensive strategies taught through a variety of challenging game-situation drills. Daily off-ice conditioning sessions focus on increasing speed and heightening agility, while chalk talks cover proper positioning.
WEEKLY SKILLS SESSIONS
“Skills Sessions” are designed to keep a player skating during the season and off-season by allowing one hour of intense training a week. Players will be broken up into groups and put into stations according to their ability. The student to teacher ratio is 5:1. Instructors will demonstrate drills for specific skill development and coach each player to insure the drills are done correctly. Our dynamic skills sessions cover edge control, technique, agility and balance. During each skills session our players will be pushed a step higher by adding stickhandling and shooting to ensure every aspect of the game is covered. Our players are pushed to execute all drills at full speed while under control, though ample time to first learn a new skill is always part of the curriculum.
LEARN TO PLAY HOCKEY
Our Learn to Play Hockey Program is designed for first-time skaters. Our curriculum includes instruction on stops, starts, crossovers, backwards skating, stickhandling and shooting. To ensure that all participants learn in a fun and safe environment, players are separated into groups based on age, size and skill level. Players as young as four will not only learn all of the fundamentals, but have a great time doing so. Full hockey equipment is required and may be purchased in our Hockey Dog Pro Shop.
MINI / PRE-SEASON CAMPS
At camp each day players will be driven to their full capability. Instructors will demonstrate drills for specific skill development and coach each player to insure the drills are done correctly with repetition. Once mastered drills are done at full speed, because we believe players play the way they practice. At camp we focus on the technique, speed, quickness and agility of each player to MAXIMIZE INDIVIDUAL POTENTIAL AND DEVELOPMENT.
INDIVIDUAL SKILLS
Our Individual Skills Sessions have sold out for the past 9 years running! It is the #1 session for players needing that extra attention. Top coaches working with players in very small groups on the ice. ALL DRILLS WILL BE CUSTOMIZED TO YOUR PLAYER. Each week players will be asked what they need work on and drills will be customized around them. This camp is limited so sign up early.
