Oxbow Summer Art Camp
No lanyards made here! The Oxbow Summer Art Camp offers two unique ‘art-immersion’ programs for youth ages 14-16 who LOVE ART!
In a fun, non-competitive environment of high-level instruction, encouragement and support, campers explore creativity and develop their artistic talent. By focusing on a large project of their own design, campers return home with concrete evidence of their growth, a heightened awareness of art and a personally significant piece of work. Often their biggest accomplishment is their realization that they are uniquely creative and capable of making great art.
SERIOUS ART: SERIOUS FUN
Based on the Oxbow semester model, these sessions focus on creating project-based art in a wide variety of media. Taught by professional artists and teachers, the first week campers explore the fundamentals in drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and photography. They are exposed to a wide variety of artistic styles and different artist's work.
They then propose a "final project" in the medium of their choice around a topic that has personal relavance to them. The remainder of the session is devoted to working in the studio to bring that piece being.
Along the way they learn the steps of the artistic process from idea to creation, peer feedback, reflection and writing about their process, hanging/presenting the piece and having it viewed by the public.

Session Two: July 22 to August 6, 2012
