Description:

 You will never know

To what heights you can soar

                Until you spread your wings!

  • Camp Black Hawk is a coed summer camp for children and adults with developmental disabilities.
  • Three or four campers of similar age and interests are paired with one terrific camp counselor.
  •
  • This small group becomes good friends in a very short period of time, and works together to plan their activity schedule.
  •
  •  Each camper is given just the right support to encourage involvement, but allowed the independence needed to boost their self esteem and pride in their own accomplishments.
  •
  • By combining well trained staff, lots of fun summer activities and a camp director with more than 15 years experience supporting people with disabilities, we are sure Camp Black Hawk will be the highlight of every campers summer!

Sessions:

Session 1 July 21 - 26 Adults  - 30 and over
This is a slower paced camp session
Session 2 July 28 - Aug 2 Teen and adults (age 17 and over)

Session 3 Aug 4 - 9 School age (age 5 - 21)

We offer a large cross over in ages to ensure that each camper is grouped in the most appropriate session.

  • Session 1 focuses on socializing.  We have slower paced activities.  Our formal dinner and dance is a highlight of session 1.  We have had many of the some campers coming to camp for 20 years.  Being able to see and visiting with old friends is what brings campers back year after year.  Activities are geared for people with mobility issues or who don't want to much excursive.
  • Session 2 is faster paced with more sports, hiking and physical activities.  Adults who want to be up and moving would find session 2 a good fit.
  • Session 3 is for the young at heart.  We play games, sing songs, hunt for treasure during a scavenger hunt and even build tunnels outside with giant foam blocks.
