Summer Discovery at Cambridge University, England offers students the opportunity to explore Cambridge, Great Britain, and its surrounding cities and participate in a wide array of academic course and activities. Cambridge students may choose from 2 curricula. A consultation with parents and a guidance counselor/ advisor is recommended when making curriculum choices. Students selecting Curriculum A enjoy the challenge of a college credit course (credit is optional) and the advantage of an enrichment course to improve skills and expand knowledge. Students selecting Curriculum B choose The Princeton Review SAT Prep course, plus an additional enrichment course, and receive no college credit. Note: Students may enroll in the full Princeton Review SAT Prep enrichment course as part of Curriculum A or Curriculum B. College credit (optional) courses meet 4 mornings weekly for approximately 2 hours. Enrichment courses meet 3-4 times weekly for approximately 11/2 hours. In addition, students attend our innovative workshop series, “Preparing for College and Life Workshops,” which meets 1-2 evenings a week. With its river and bridges, art and architecture, concert halls, theatres and cinemas, bookstores and record shops, tea and coffee houses, open markets and cool shops, footpaths and bike trails, and parks and playing fields; Cambridge is one of the world’s great college towns. Just walking around town is a feast for the eyes. The architectural heritage of Cambridge is as much a part of the city’s character as its contribution to education. Summer is an especially rewarding time to live in Cambridge. July is “Festival Month,” featuring festivals devoted to film, theatre, and music, where this city of 125,000 literally comes alive every day and night. Our evening activities and excursions reach beyond Cambridge to the villages and castles of the English countryside and several days in the exciting city of London. In addition to Cambridge, students will also participate in excursions and activities including a trip to London, Windsor Castle, Alton Tower Amusement/Theme Park, Stratford-Upon-Avon, the Cambridge Film Festival and much more.
