Our all-day programs encourage young artists to create and explore in a supportive and challenging studio environment. Our art camp instructors are professional artists with extensive teaching experience. Our specially trained counsellors ensure safe fun for your child. We balance art education, skills development and play to provide a full experience for evens the most energetic and talented camper.

 

This summer, in addition to our great art programming, each class with enjoy a trip to cool off in a local pool, pizza days, recreational activities and camp-wide games.

 

Extended care is available for all ages. Supervised activities are available from 4 to 5:30 pm daily, including games, activities and opportunities for individual pursuits such as reading. (Limited space)

 

 

Age 6 and 7:

Sixes and Sevens

Our sixes and sevens make the most amazing things! We guide children in an imaginative and fun journey into the basics of artmaking through drawing, sculpture and printmaking, plus collage, books, masks and more! Campers use sixes and sevens as inspiration making a book with six strange beasts, creating an amazing seven-sided mobile and more.

 

Age 8 to 10

Art Treasures

Learn what was cool way back when, and what folks collected. Then, using the timeless techniques of painting, sculpture, printmaking and more, create your own collection of masterpieces and modern-day heirlooms. What do you collect? Cards, stuffed animals, action figures, video games?

 

Age 8 to 10 and 11 to 13 (programs modified according to age)

Picture Making

Zoom in on the many ways to have fun with art. See the world through the eye of a camera lens and discover how to make and use devices to instantly improve your drawings. Explore drawing and painting while learning through the principles of photography as you make pinhole cameras, solar-grams, photo-collages and photo-inspired paintings.

 

Cartooning

Armed with a pencil, pen and brush, you can explore this popular art form as you create comics or cartoons in a variety of genres under the guidance of a professional cartoonist. Draw a funny, silly or scary hero and then create him or her with plasticene. Learn the art of story-boarding, and illustrate your own mini-book. This camp is about humour, fantasy, romance and imagination all wrapped up in two weeks.

 

The Medium is the Message

The medium is the message in this wild and exciting camp that mixes old and new media and technologies. What do you want to tell the world? See it in street art, zines, graffiti, stickers, signs and graphics, Say your message loud and clear when you design, pattern, stencil, animate, film, print and create fonts and alphabets!

 

Howd They Do That?

Invent, build, create and collect artists work with these ideas and themes every day. This art camp focuses on creativity and invention and offers you many ways to imagine, draw, paint, print, assemble, sculpt, construct, deconstruct and build all with a variety of materials and a sense of play and discovery.

$520 non-member / $415 AGO member

Aftercare $55 non-member / $45 AGO member

 

Sessions 2 and 4

$575 non-member / $460 AGO member

Classes are limited to 15 campers (12 campers for ages 6-7) with one instructor and one counsellor per class. Counsellors are university or college students in art, physical education or health studies. Teen volunteers assist classes and provide leadership to the groups.
