Improve language skills through formal language instruction, family living and real-life immersion in daily life and culture. You will be treated as a special guest and take your language learning to an entirely different level for a truly authentic immersion experience. For over twenty summers, Spanish in Espana has provided high school students the unique opportunity for real language and cultural immersion. Designed for students with at least two years of high school Spanish, the program combines a month-long homestay with classroom-based language study, daily activities, and weekend excursions throughout Andalusia.

The combination of intensive formal language instruction with real life immersion in the daily life and culture of Spain helps students to achieve fluency and confidence in the language while gaining an intimate understanding and appreciation for Spain's rich history, culture, and traditions. By living closely with a family, students adapt quickly and discover Spanish fluency more easily than they ever thought possible.

In addition to the homestay families, ASA Summerfuel has at least six staff members in each location. Directors, local representatives and recreaional staff meet with ASA Summerfuel students daily. This high level of contact encourages active participation and ensures that students are getting the most from their experience. Choose from three small beach towns in southern Spain: Cadiz, Conil, or Nerja.

Virtually unchanged for centuries, Nerja’s old quarter is famous for its narrow cobbled streets that spill into many small merchant and residential squares. The Balcón de Europa, in the heart of town, is a promenade along the edge of a towering cliff with impressive panoramic views of the Mediterranean and the small coves and beaches below. Nerja enjoys a privileged location surrounded by mountains and the Mediterranean Sea and is ideal for a wide range of activities like hiking, swimming and snorkeling.
