ASA in Barcelona is a residential Spanish language program designed for students completing grades 10-12 who have had at least one year of high school Spanish. The program offers students a unique opportunity to live, study and explore in one of Europe's most magical and sophisticated cities. Experience Spanish language and culture first hand, take language courses and cultural seminars taught by a talented team of university professors and enjoy a wide range of activities and excursions. Students and staff live in a state-of-the-art residence in the elegant Sarria district.

Barcelona is a city with immense history whose past enriches its vibrant modern cultural life and reputation for being cosmopolitan and cutting edge whether it be art, architecture, fashion or cuisine. The city lays claim to many important museums and galleries and inspired Salvador Dali, Joan Miro and Pablo Picasso. The Modernist architecture championed by Antoni Gaudi contrasts with the ultra modern Olympic port and pristine beaches of the stunning Mediterranean coast. As a student you will improve your language skills and gain an intimate knowledge of Barcelona's history, culture, people and customs.

From the narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter to the modern shops and cafes of Passeig de Gracia, Barcelona possesses a unique energy and style that make it one of the top destinations in all of Europe. On weekdays, students take a morning language class and an afternoon elective. Language classes are divided into four different levels. For afternoon electives, students choose from the following: 20th century spanish art & architecture spanish cinema ideas & culture of spain international relations international business spanish literature During afternoons & evenings students can choose from a variety of activities, or explore Barcelona independently.
