Art on the Farm presents a unique opportunity to study painting, drawing and photography alongside practicing visual artists in a focused and intimate studio environment.
I attended Cow House as both a student and an intern, and it has been such a privilege to see how it has grown over the years and to understand it from both angles. Frank and Rosie, their family, and the visiting artists provide the best of both worlds at the farm. They offer a balance between instruction and independent exploration, between work and play, between the labor of physical creation and critical thought. Those are fine lines to walk, but Cow House really allows you develop your personal interests and techniques as an artist under personalized guidance. Everyone at the farm has so much insight to offer about their own evolution as artists and as human beings.
I attended Cow House Studios for the first session last summer, and it was definitely the best art programme I have ever been to! I learnt so much about composition, how to use different mediums that I hadn't used before, and how to develop ideas thoroughly into a final project for the third week. I really enjoyed the morning drawing classes, particularly the life drawing, which has helped me so much, and I now take it in school. Of course, the trips and scenery were gorgeous, and Frank's cooking is wonderful. I have nothing but good things to say about the experience!
