The new fully-accessible cabins replace the existing cabins which had become damaged from age and weather. Each of the cabins feature six double rooms with private bathrooms, two rooms accessible to guests in wheelchairs with a shared bathroom, and a screened porch. A number of features have been added to improve the overall accessibility of the cabins including: wider hallways and doorframes; barrier-free washrooms with safety bars, rails and levered taps; diffused and direction lighting; tactile flooring; closed-fist door openers; and angled braille signs on all doors and buildings. All buildings will be connected by a covered boardwalk.

The old sleeping cabins on the west side of the property will not be used this season. The administrative building is the only building on the west side in use for guests.

These new developments have been possible thanks to the generous support of individuals and organizations who have contributed to CNIBs Restoring the Spirit campaign to rebuild Lake Jo. With continued support of this campaign, we hope to complete the redevelopment in the next few years with the reconstruction of the administrative building and recreation hall.

In addition to the changes to the facilities, we have also made some changes to our programming to offer a higher quality program to our guests. To facilitate this, there have been some adjustments to the vacation weeks. Our season will run for eight weeks from July 1 to September 1, 2007. Please note weeks run Sunday afternoon to Saturday morning. This is a change from previous years, in which weeks ran from Saturday afternoon until Saturday morning. Camp fees remain the same for the 2007 season.

We continue to offer our guests: free bus pick up and drop off; free coffee before 8:15 in the morning; a maximum of two guests per room; and computer and internet access.

On another positive note, administration will no longer move to Hamilton in the winter season and will be permanently located at Lake Jo year-round henceforth.

To register download the registration from below, complete and fax or mail along with your payment. New this season take advantage of our early payment bonus and new payment plan.

At the CNIB Lake Joseph Centre, we believe that recreational opportunities enable coming to terms with vision loss, personal growth and is an essential part of the rehabilitation process.
