I have two sons who have been going to Camp Anokijig since they were 7 years old - and who look forward to the experience each summer with a HIGH level of anticipation. They enjoy being outdoors & shooting things & everything else that the camp offers. I love that they offer a safe environment where they can find more about themselves and who they want to be. They come home worn out from a week of activity, but instantly looking forward to the next summer trip!
My son has been going since he was 9 and has loved every year there. He is planning on being a counselor too. The most impressive moment for me, and the most meaningful as a parent, was when he was 11 and his dad and I had just divorced. He was overwhelmed at camp that summer, and his letters home had me concerned. However, by the time I got the letters and called the camp I was informed (by his counselor who called me back) that he was doing a lot better. This counselor had taken a few HOURS one afternoon and sat one-on-one with my son talking about the divorce and his life. My son came home with nothing but smiles! Thank you!
