Camp Emerson is NOT Your Ordinary Summer Camp!

OUR PROGRAM

We are the leaders in camp programming - Our list of activities is extensive:

Art (fashion, jewelry, ceramics, cartooning, stained glass, woodworking…), Athletics (tennis, basketball, fencing, archery, baseball, soccer, gymnastics…), Performing Arts (theater, rock bank, dance, music…), Water sports (waterskiing, sailing, windsurfing, swim, wakeboarding…), Adventure (zipline, hiking, ropes course…), our exclusive “Step Beyond” activities (cooking, magic, CO2 race cars, babysitting certification, forensic science, Mythbusters, rocketry….) – And, to keep it interesting, something new each year.

Prior to camp, children and parents talk and send in ALL the activities they want to do, from our long list. We use this information to plan the summer and put together the bunks.

Campers design their own schedules every 2 weeks. On the first day of camp, there's an activity fair and campers talk to the instructors. Next, the bunk meets to plan their choices. On the 2nd day, the Director meets with each camper to determine his/her perfect schedule.

Campers are encouraged to pursue their passions and try new things. They mix inside and outside activities so everyone is active. We also ensure that campers are with their bunkmates BUT not forced to do something they don’t want.

The results are:

  • our campers are happy because they love their schedules
  • they are motivated to participate so there's greater skill development
  • children learn decision making and independence
  • friendships blossum when kids participate with like-minded peers
  • fun & memories to last a lifetime.

OUR CAMPERS

Our campers describe themselves as “nice, creative, smart and friendly” – “It’s easy to make friends here”. Every child wants to know that they will be accepted and find true friendship. We understand their feelings and work BEFORE and DURING camp to integrate them as a group

We meet every child and family prior to camp. In doing so, children feel confident that an adult will be there for them. Parents are reassured by our experience and genuine interest in their child. The more we know about your child prior to camp, the better job we can do to help her/him succeed.

OUR STAFF

100 Staff for 200 campers – Superior staff is the key to our great camp. We hand-pick adults who are caring and dedicated. They have proven experience teaching and motivating children. Our large staff provides excellent surpervision and attention to detail. 20% of us are parents. And everyone is focused on the campers' safety and self esteem.
