Camp Good News
Camp Good News accepts young people from the ages of 6-15. Campers come from a wide range of backgrounds. Regardless of race, religion or nationality, all are welcomed. Camp Good News believes that children and young people need a well-rounded program of recreation and work, integrated with the all important spiritual dimension.
At Good News we have fun, but we also aim to instill in each person a compassion for the less fortunate. In 1975, Faith Willard co-founded The Widow's Friend, which sponsors several projects in Bangladesh to help widows and orphans. The campers raise thousands of dollars each summer for these projects.
Campers participate in four activity periods each day. Choices generatlly include two of the following: arts & crafts, tennis, soccer, sailing, swimming, canoeing, archery, cycling, or the ropes course. We also offer Optional Trips that include hiking Mt. Washington in New Hampshire, cylcling Martha's Vineyard, Whale Watching, canoeing the Saco River in Maine, Children's Museum and the Museum of Science in Boston, a shopping trip for our International campers, and Deep Sea fishing from Hyannis Harbor. Camp Good News offers tutoring in all the general courses as well as English as a Second Language for the foreign campers.
Our beautiful and pristine beaches along the Cape, give our campers a wonderful taste of our Cape Cod summers and for those that love to sail, the chance to use their skills on the open ocean. The food menus are planned with the needs and desires of juniors and teenagers in mind, like egg mcmuffins, peanut butter and jelly, spaghetti, hamburgers, pizza, chicken, ham and turkey. We do not have the resources to cater to specialized diets.
For 73 years, Camp Good News has given campers fun-filled summers that they continue to remember and life long friends.
