Camp Hawthorne
Camp Hawthorne is situated on the edge of Panther Pond, surrounded by over 100 acres of pristine pine forest. With 2 1/2 miles of shorefront and a beautiful sandy beach, we are happy to offer some of the finest sailing, waterskiing, canoeing and waterfront activities to be found. Every camper finds a home in one of our rustic pine cabins, overlooking the water.
With several large playing fields, volleyball & basketball courts, an outdoor amphitheater and miles of woodland trails, there is something just right for everybody. We offer both Traditional Camp activities as well as skill development programs focused on Sailing, Visual & Performing Arts, and Film. For campers seeking a more intensive challenge, we also offer a number of Adventure Programs that include canoeing, backpacking, rock climbing, ocean kayaking and biking. This widens the choices for campers who wish to stay for more than one session. Details of our Adventure Programs can be found in the New England Camping Adventure brochure, available upon request.
Children who spend time away from home at Summer Camp, often see their experience as one of the most important in their lives. Our goals are to help campers grow into healthy, tolerant, and self-confident individuals, capable of living and working with others in a community setting while creating lasting relationships with their peers. As a small family camp, each camper gets to know everyone and our staff are better able to give attention to the needs of each child. Our family atmosphere also helps create a sense of security for first year campers.
Stories by the campfire, loons on the lake, early morning swims in the lake, the laughter from bunk skits, the warmth of new friendships: camp is where memories are made.
