Then pack your bags.  Because this is the place to have some serious fun, hang with friends, and do more in one day--swim, climb, ride, ski, paddle, run, volley, laugh, scream, splash, sing--than you ever thought possible!

 

If you're ready for a memorable summer, you have to be here!  And while our mission is to build bridges for life, we'll also help you build friendships that last a lifetime.

 

Camp Henry is a ministry of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Grand Rapids, and is open to everyone regardless of faith, sex, race or national origin.  This is summer camp the way it's supposed to be!  If you're ready....really ready....come to Camp for the best week of your life!

Day Camp

    Day Camp will be offered for two weeks this summer, with each session running from Monday to Friday. Housed in the wonderful Nicely Center, children age 5 - 8 will enjoy fun activities such as crafts, nature study, beach and waterfront activities, recreation, outdoor skills, and group games. Day Camp will run from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM each day. Before and after care will be available at the Camp for Newaygo area residents, starting at 8:30, with children being picked up by 4:30. Before and after care, and transportation, is available for Grand Rapids residents. Pick up and drop off is at Westminster Presbyterian Church in downtown GR. Drop off is 8:00 to 8:30 AM, and pick up is between 4:30 and 5:30 PM. Lunch will be provided.

Mini Camp I and II

    A taste of camp in 3 days and 3 nights. Perfect for first time campers. Caring, loving counselors guide the way.

NEW! Mini Water Bugs I and II

    Come ride the waves! Campers will spend their mornings learning the basics of waterskiing, riding the Big Banana, mastering their monster tube riding skills, and much more. This is a fun and exciting introduction to all the awesome water activities Kimball Lake has to offer.

Mini Frontier I and II

    Bring your bed roll and riding boots! As a Mini Frontier camper, you'll get to ride each day, as long as Mother Nature cooperates, and spend time learning your way around the horse corral. Activities may include the care and grooming of horses, trail rides, and games on horseback. And if you're not tired after all this horsing around, you'll have all the other camp activities to look forward to! Giddy up!

Regular Camp

    Fun and friends! Laughter, Learning, and Leadership. A little bit of almost everything, blending cabin activities like swimming and horseback riding and individual class sign-ups. Evenings include special games, programs, and campfires. Each day begins with chapel and ends with vespers.

Olympics Week

    Go for the GOLD! Test your Olympic abilities against other teams in special events like tug-o-war, kayak races, and other phenomenal feats. A week to celebrate!

Christmas Week

    "Oh, Come All Ye Faithful..." to Christmas at Camp Henry! Spread a little Christmas joy, make presents, decorate cabins, exchange gifts, sing Christmas carols, and celebrate the nativity. Remind yourself of the reason for the season.

Frontier Camp

    For the horse lover, what could be better than a week spent riding, taking care of and learning about horses? Frontier Campers will enjoy learning about the care of horses, playing games on horseback, trail riding and, of course, spending time with and around horses! Depending on age and ability, Frontier riders may help deliver the Pony Express Mail, camp over night with their horse, ride an advanced trail through the woods, or have a chuck wagon cookout! Frontier Campers stay in rustic Frontier Village-in Arabian, Pinto, Palomino, Buckskin, or Mustang Cabins. Modern showers and bathrooms are a short walk away. Open to campers ages 10-17; enrollment is limited to ensure maximum horse time and optimum staff to rider ratio.

NEW! Hunter Jumper Camp

    Led by a certified American Riding Instructors Association instructor, Hunter-Jumper campers will spend their time jumping courses, polishing their flatwork, as well as trail riding and learning to "horse whisper". Throughout the week campers will ride a hunter course, small jumper course, cross-country course and work on equitation. If you've ever wanted to fly on your horse, this is the week for you!

    Imagine skiing every day, behind one of the best ski boats around. At Water Ski Camp, all levels of skiers will learn new techniques from certified instructors. Our powerful Ski Nautiques make it easy to get up and out of the water so you enjoy a safe and fun experience. Plus, enjoy all regular camp activities too. Think you'll be tired? Count on it.     Get ready to rage! Whether you're a beginner or advanced rider, this is a camp you don't want to miss! Our professional coach will teach you the physics of wakeboarding before teaching you the tricks, so you understand why you do the things you do. Then it's into Kimball Lake to throw down everything you've learned! Edging, jumps, spins and grabs-come to Wakeboard Camp and go big!

    Leave your own artistic mark on camp! Hands-on activities and instruction will allow you to express yourself through clay, paint, mural design and more. Learn how to include the natural elements in paint, tie dye, and pottery. Create your own canvas, mold and refine clay from our own clay pits.

    Calling all instruments…guitars, drums, flutes, fiddles, harmonicas. If you have an instrument and you can play it, bring it to Rock Camp II and join the Band. Will & Travis will put the pieces of the band together for a live concert on Friday night. That's right. Your Band will rock Camp Henry!

NEW! Teen Challenge—Coasters and Camping

    Encounter windy breezes from atop the Wolverine Wildcat or Corkscrew at Michigan's Adventure, then cool off at the Wild Water Adventure Park. This rollercoaster adventure is part of a two-day camp out at our private group campsite at Muskegon State Park-where we'll spend time swimming in Lake Michigan, playing and cooking over a campfire. Tents and backpacks are supplied; campers need to bring their own sleeping bag.

NEW! Teen Challenge—Get Ready, Get Set…Sail!

    Overnight at Young State Park, a stone's throw from Petoskey and set sail the next morning upon the waters of Lake Charlevoix. This three hour voyage aboard The Sunshine will highlight Michigan's scenic beauty. Plus, you'll get to swim and parasail! This trip is non-instructional and for pure enjoyment. No sailing experience is required. Tents and backpacks are supplied; campers need to bring their own sleeping bag.

Teen Challenge—South Manitou Island
 

    From Camp we will travel to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and prepare to take the ferry to the Manitou Islands. South Manitou offers established campsites and water sources, with maintained beaches, and boasts exceptional beauty and amazing opportunities for exploration. Tents and backpacks are supplied; campers need to bring their own sleeping bag.

NEW! Teen Challenge—Hikin’ and Ridin’ the Dunes

    Experience Michigan's dunes from two perspectives. Hike in and camp at Nordhouse dunes, soaking up the sand, sun and water. Before heading out, take a dune ride exploring the shores of Silver Lake on Mac Wood's Scenic Dune Ride. All equipment and instruction provided; campers need to bring a sleeping bag.

Teen Challenge—Mystery Adventure

    Join us for this amazing adventure that will combine physical, mental and group challenges. We must find and understand clues in order to make it to our overnight destination. Come prepared to hike, swim, canoe, backpack, use a map and compass, and work together to reach our goals. (Parents: We will stay in Michigan.)

 Assistant Couselors/Wranglers in Training

    All campers who would like to be an Assistant Counselor need to attend a week-long training session. In addition to this training, weeks will be scheduled during the rest of the summer. During these weeks, Assistant Counselors will be volunteer staff. The regular application and interview process still applies. Call 616-459-2267 to obtain the Assistant Counselor application.

Carryover to Sunday

    One week just not enough? Then stay for two or three. A camper may stay consecutive weeks without leaving camp. Counselor supervised overnight care. Fees cover entertainment, meals, and a trip to the Laundromat.
