Goals & Benefits of the Camp Kidville program: The goal of the Camp Kidville program is to introduce campers to the traditional camp experience through physical activity, arts and crafts, exciting scientific exploration, and familiar songs and games. Transitioning from activity to activity allows children to feel comfortable with a consistent structure and team building activities and relationships with their counselors and peers allow them to develop socialization skills as well as a new found sense of independence. The three main benefits of Camp Kidville are the opportunities for campers to: build relationships with both peers and counselors to develop leadership skills to discover new personal interests What our activities offer Gym (All ages): o In Gym, we make every effort to produce a fun and challenging environment that engages children while promoting physical exploration. By encouraging the children to extend their physical means and abilities, Gym focuses on the development of gross motor skills, strength, balance, flexibility and dexterity. Art & Crafts (All ages): o In Arts & Crafts, we focus on process not product. Playful investigation of art materials teaches children problem solving, spatial relationships, math and science concepts, and cause and effect. During camp, we also introduce summer inspired craft creations. Music (All ages): o In Music, we make singing with children a fun and valuable experience that encourages language development through repetitious phrases, interesting vocal play, and experimentation of the voice. Through popular songs, there is more exploration of sounds that are present in language through rhymes, alliteration and elongation of sounds. Children also have an opportunity to feel rhythm as they rock and play along with simple instruments. Exploration (for 2 years & up only): o In Exploration, children are exposed to introductory science concepts and activities to learn more about the world around them. As children explore the varied textures and materials, they learn support language for the things they feel and see -rough, smooth, cold, soft, grainy, sandy, scratchy, and can begin to discriminate between the sensations. Hands-on experimentation also allows them to observe the principles of cause and effect. o 18-24 month old campers do not participate in Exploration as the materials are not age appropriate.
