Our campers enjoy creative and fun filled activities. Instruction for all skill levels is provided in a wide variety of sports including street hockey, rugby, football, baseball, soccer, field hockey, volleyball, basketball, mountain biking and water polo just to name a few. Interested campers receive instruction in weight and strength training. Personal trainers are readily available to customize workout regimes for individual campers.
Our campers enjoy three meals every day - plus two snacks. These meals are designed by our nutritionists and served by the dining hall staff at Hampshire College. Lunch and dinner include many favorite foods such as pizza and hamburgers as well as an unlimited salad bar. Vegetarian options are provided at every meal. In the event one of the three lunch entrees provided is not appealing that day, there is a sandwich bar. Proper nutrition is supplemented with weekly nutrition classes and practical hands-on cooking classes to develop a base line of skills in the kitchen.
In addition to action packed days, we have numerous all-camp and optional trips andafter-dinner activities every evening. Our evening activities include weekly ‘themed’ dances in the Red Barn, open air dances, camp fires, scavenger hunts, movies, skits and games. In 2009 we are pleased to introduce the ‘Main Event’ to be featured each Friday evening. At least once a week we have rec/pool night to take advantage of the Hampshire College pool and other indoor recreational facilities. Dodge ball, basketball, ping pong, billiards and other indoor activities are available.
Our all-camp trips include fireworks the evening of July 4, an afternoon bowling, skating and at the movies, a full day at Six Flags New England and lake swimming at Chicopee State Park. Optional trips include white water rafting at the Zoar Gap, an overnight tour of Newport, RI, trips to the mall for new clothes to fit slimmed down bodies, horse back riding lessons at Muddy Brook Farm and ‘tournament’ paintball.
At Camp Kingsmont every camper will experience how to live a healthy life in a supportive and fun filled environment. They will be exposed to proper nutrition, nutrition education, cooking classes, a wide variety of physical activities, non-competitive team sports and our Expressions and Connections programs aimed at building self esteem.
They will return home with a baseline of how to live to a far more active and healthy life. Our after care program offers weekly on-line nutrition support, menu options and personal trainer advice. Weight management requires a lifelong commitment to a healthier lifestyle – a lifestyle that needs to be supported at home.
