Camp SAM
Sports: We offer different sports clinics over an eleven week period. Each clinic will last one week. Campers will learn the basic fundamentals of each sport offered, specifically, the rules of the game and how the game is played. This summer we’ve added highly skilled instructors (professional, collegiate and high school coaches) to conduct the sports clinics, and by the end of the full week, campers should be able to play the game at an intramural level. After the lessons, campers will also be able to practice what they have learned throughout the summer. Our clinics also improve the physical fitness of our campers.
Arts & Crafts: Campers will have the opportunity to create fun projects. During arts & crafts time, campers will get a chance to think creatively and gain experience using materials like paper mache, paint, and clay.
Music & Drama: Campers will be involved in sing-along's, charades, video production, and karaoke with a skilled musician and video director. They will learn to appreciate music and incorporate songs with simple dance routines that may be put on in front of parents and fellow campers.
Nature Trail: We have a beautiful nature trail for our campers to enjoy. The path of lush greenery consists of a variety of flowers, plants, and trees for the campers to discover and explore. The trail will also be used for special activities such as scavenger hunts and jailbreak.
Rock Climbing: Standing 25 feet tall, the rock wall challenges climbers to scale the rock face and push the button at the top. Safety is of the utmost importance, so professional mountain climbing equipment is used at all times.
Pool: Under supervision of highly trained lifeguards, campers are encouraged to participate and progress without pressure. Every camper will have an opportunity to swim in the pool each day.
Games: We offer a variety of games like, Ga-Ga, Bombardment, Elimination, and Capture the Flag, which provide campers with team building skills and of course, FUN!
NEW To Camp SAM 2008:
Professional CampCounselors & Administrators: The Camp SAM 2008 counselors and administrative team members are professional, trained, and educated. On staff, we will have college students pursuing careers in childcare-related fields, certified teachers, and trained speech, OT and counseling therapists.
Specials: At Camp SAM, we emphasize teamwork, cooperation, and sportsmanship, rather than competition. We provide structure while still allowing campers to pursue their own interests through picking from a list of specials to participate in each day (ex. Cheerleading, Sign Language, Tennis, Martial Arts, Hip-Hop Dance, Cooking, Read To Achieve, Ceramics, Jewelry-Making, and many more).
Special Needs Program: Camp SAM will now make reasonable accommodations so that children with special needs can attend. Camp SAM will emphasize the camper’s abilities over his or her disabilities. Although special needs campers may have some limited capabilities, our well-trained counselors and experienced administrators will assist these campers to engage in traditional mainstream camp activities, such as swimming, basketball, arts & crafts, etc.. Parents of special needs campers should provide an accurate appraisal of the camper’s physical, cognitive, and emotional limitations.
New Clinics: Due to high demand and interest, we have added a few new sports clinics to the schedule: wrestling, gymnastics, baseball, softball.
Nutritional Menu: At Camp SAM, we promote physical fitness and positive healthy choices. We have revised the lunch menu in accordance with federal nutrition standards.
Celebrity Appearances: At the end of each sport clinic week, we will hold tournaments and scrimmages in the sport of that particular week, where we will have guest appearances from professional, semi-pro, and collegiate athletes. Water Attractions: Camp SAM will be featuring brand new water slides, inflatable bouncers, slip & slides, and obstacle courses to add to the fun and excitement of camp.
