Camp Wyandot
Summer Address:
Rockbridge, Ohio, United StatesAt Camp Wyandot, campers are nestled in rustic, screened cabins, where the sounds of frogs and crickets provide background music for the day. Campers enjoy communal meals in our big dining hall built of chestnut trees felled during the chestnut blight. Our caring staff helps each child build their confidence through age-appropriate activities. For younger campers, this may be their first experience choosing their clothes to wear each day. For older campers, using a map and compass to find prizes makes them feel self-reliant. All campers pitch in during meals cooked out over a blazing fire. Campers also get a chance to sleep under the stars during the camp overnight.
Many of our staff members grew up at Camp Wyandot as campers, and just can't stay away from the peaceful, beautiful environment in the Hocking Hills. They understand the unique needs of each child, and guide their campers through new challenges and help them grow and learn.
We believe it is vital for children to get back in touch with the natural world - to escape video games; to come to appreciate modern conveniences when "making do" on a campout; to nestle in the cool shade of a hemlock tree; to try some sassafras tea brewed from a plant pulled up that morning; to float alone in a canoe on a placid lake and reflect on the day.
