This amazing program offers the perfect combination of adventure, 'Costa Rica style', and community service. Meet new friends amongst the children of San Gerardo and help remodel their school. Partake in a cultural exchange program with the children of a San Isidro orphanage and run a day camp program consisting of music, art and sports. Teach English and learn Spanish with local students in the beachside town of Uvita. Hike through lush rainforests and dare to zip above the tree line. Surf the Pacific Ocean. By your summer’s end you will have earned 60 hours of community service. Get ready for the summer of a lifetime!
While there are no formal classes on the 25 day Costa Rica Rainforest Language Immersion program, students improve their language skills through a commitment to speak Spanish with their trip mates, leaders and the local community. The trip begins in San Jose and continues onto the following locations: El Brujo, San Gerardo de Dota, San Isidro, Uvita, Manuel Antonio, Zarcero and La Fortuna. Students receive a certificate for 35 hours of service. Tour members must have completed at least 2 years of Spanish to participate in this program.
We will be working with the following Community Service Partners: Hogar Ama Orphanage, Uvita School and San Gerardo Farm Project. We will also be having a 3-day group stay at the Rainforest Lodge with the Fonseca family.
Amazing Daytime & Evening Activities include: zip line, spiritual ceremony at a sweat lodge, medicinal plant garden and interactive program with shaman Papa Albino, waterfall rappelling, tree climbing, soccer tournament, white water rafting the Naranjo River, surfing Uvita, kayaking, Canopy Tour, Arenal Volcano National Park and much more.
