We have two different camp programs that are located on 400 wooded acres in Wisconsin Dells, Respite Camp and Camp Wawbeek. Even though these programs are separate, the staff works closely together to provide the best services to the campers.
Respite Camp serves individuals age three to adult with moderate to severe disabilities. The campers have a variety of different diagnosis such as: autism, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, developmental disabilities, and behavioral issues. Staff and volunteers are paired up one on one with a camper and are responsible for taking care of all personal needs. This may include: dressing, changing, helping in the restroom, feeding, lifts and transfers, assisting with activities and making sure campers are having a great time!
Camp Wawbeek works with individuals age 6 to adult with physical disabilities and little to no cognitive impairments. There are eight one-week long sessions in the summer that campers attend depending on age. There is also a session for campers that have no physical disabilities and mild to moderate cognitive impairment. Staff works as a team to help campers in their group with personal care (dressing, showering, toileting, and feeding) and other camp activities to give the campers a great vacation.
Easter Seals Wisconsin Camps is a great place for campers to come and enjoy the outdoors while giving families time for respite. Many times we have heard how camp has positively affected the lives of campers and their families, as well as the staff that work at camp.
