Easter Seals Wisconsin Aspergers Session
Summer Address:

Easter Seals WI has been serving people with disabilities for over 70 years. About 5 years ago, ESW started a speciality session just for children with Asperger's and High Functioning Autism. During these camp sessions the campers are able to participate in all typical camp activities (arts and crafts, sports and games, nature activites, fishing, canoeing, hiking, camping out under the stars, ropes courses, etc) all with a low camper to staff ratio (2 campers for every 1 counselor). And there are always extra staff around in case someone needs a little down time or a break from the group to cool down. The staff are well trained in working with people with challenging behaviors and will keep the campers safe. The counselors are also there to promote appropraite social behavior and encourage interactions between campers.
Each session, the campers and staff take a community trip into the WI Dells community to some of the great attractions near by. During these off camp trips, staff are able to work with the campers on apporpraite community interactions.
Campers get the chance to be typical kids in a safe environment, created for campers to make friends and get the opportunity to experience new things.
