Reuse, Renew Recylce - Art our way! Spend this session discovering the natural beauty of our world through Art using recycled materials. Come and create art and play in Montessori’s big backyard. Here at The Montessori School we have an eight acre site at our finger tips! Create art work, naturally!  Hands-on art projects will include papermaking, natural dyeing and drawing with materials from right outside the door! Taught by resident Montessori art program faculty member, Alice Barsony!

Clay Drawing and Painting   

We are pleased to welcome back Sean Robinson, local artist and faculty member at Paisley Middle School, for a second summer.  Sean’s art has been displayed in places as far away as Italy and Iraq and he is great with the kids.  Children will draw, sketch and paint, learning techniques which will allow them to create detailed works of still-life and the world around them.  In their clay work, they will explore pinch, slab and coil methods to create clay vessels, place settings, and decorative tiles. Children will also learn about surface designs, glazing and the process of firing finished pieces as well.    

 

Students will enjoy lunch together (bring your own) and breaks for outdoor play, gardening, and indoor activities including board games, ping-pong, shuffle board and library time!

For the Fun of SPORTS!

Learn the basics or perfect advanced skills! We will use these two weeks to exercise our bodies while having a lot of fun in a non-competitive manner! Throwing, catching, dribbling, Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, Dodge Ball. We will learn the basics of score keeping, rules of the game, good sportsmanship and ……  On hot days, some sprinkler time will be a must!
