Embrace Your World is an environmental day camp in which we will discover how we can take better care of our resources while having fun.  The camp has a high emphasis on cooperative projects and games.  We have 2 sleep away camping trips as well as many day trips to places such as Hassayampa River Preserve, Arcosanti, Montezuma Castle and Clear Creek.  We are open to children with special needs.  We have sliding scales fees for those who need help with summer camp costs.  Call Lorie Miller for more details at 602.518.7766

Some like it hot
Why do some animals like it hot and some like it cold, how do they adapt to their environment?      Explore adaptation this week with and how we can form new habits that honor the earth and all that live here.

July 8-13
Earth Ways
Campers will spend 3 nights and 4 days in the   beautiful mountains of the Mogollon Rim.  Here they will enjoy nature hikes, wading in Christopher Creek, learning about conservation and visiting Woods Canyon Lake.  They will then spend Thursday and Friday  swimming and reviewing the trip
NOTE:  For this camping trip children under six must be accompanied by an adult.  There is an early childhood day camp provided at Interfaith Unity this week as well.

Globe Trotters
Take a trip around the world and discover the many cultures that abound on our beautiful planet.  During this time we will also investigate how we use the Earth’s resources and how we can use them more consciously.

July 23-27
Keepers of the Earth
This week campers will truly prepare themselves to be good caretakers of our home, how to live in harmony with our environment and each other.  This week will feature a trip to Arcosanti near Cordes Junction.

July 29-Aug 3
More Than Meets the Eye
This week campers will discover the Solar      System and Universe we live in.  They will enjoy making models of the universe, learning how stars are born, visiting the Planetarium and IMAX theatre.

The Music Room
The Music Room is a place where children can experience making music with world instruments.
Everything from Percussion to Bach!

Peace Readers
Peace Readers is our new reader’s theatre program for children. Children will experience “radio theatre” based on folktales and stories about peace and peacemaking from the many cultures that represent our Earth.

Sports and Swimming
Recreational swimming will be provided twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday from 1:00 - 2:30 at Rhodes Pool. 
Optional swimming lessons and swim teams are provided by the City of Mesa at Rhodes pool (see City of Mesa brochure provided). 
Basketball and volleyball will be provided at Kiwanis Park Gymnasium

Art for Peace
Art For Peace is a program where children can experience making a difference through art.  They will enjoy handwork crafts (knitting, sewing, felting, etc.), painting, jewelry making, sculpting, woodworking, and much more.

June 4-8

What’s In Your Saguaro?

Campers will enjoy taking a trip to  Montezuma Castle and the Verde River and will discover the natural wonder of our beautiful state all while learning about the native cultures, animals and plant life of the Sonoran Desert and Verde Valley. 

 

June 10-15 (Leaving on Sunday at 12:30)

It’s Not Easy Being Green

Campers will truly enjoy 3 nights and 4 days in the beautiful mountains of the Mogollon Rim.  Here they will enjoy nature hikes, wading in Christopher Creek, learning about conservation and visiting Tonto Natural Bridge.  They will then spend Thursday and Friday  swimming and reviewing the trip.

NOTE:  For this camping trip children under six must be accompanied by an adult.  There is an early childhood day camp provided at Interfaith Unity this week as well.

 

June 18-22

Running with the Pack

How do the animals and plants in our world get along together?  We will discover how our world coexists in balance together and how we can find peaceful solutions in any circumstance.  Join us as we play group games at Kiwanis Recreation Center this week.

 

June 25-29

You Live Where?

Campers will discover the biomes and habitats in our world and how important they are to our own well-being.  Join us this week as we take a journey to the Hassayampa River Preserve this week.

July 2-6
