French at Camp aims at introducing or improving French language and culture for 6 to14 year old children (2nd to 7th grade) in a friendly and highly structured manner. French at Camp combines the rigourness of its curriculum with the quality of hands on activities throughout the day in the Overnight Camp. This Immersion Program takes place in the beautifull Laredo taft recreational Center (2 hours of Chicago) for a full week. Instruction is provided by a certified and trained staff of caring bilingual counselors and program specialists. The overall staff to camper ratio is 1 to 8. No previous language study is required The one-week enrichment session is designed to give the beginning, intermediate or advanced language learners an in-depth immersion experience. The length of this program allows French-at-Campers time to adapt to their new environment and take advantage of the activities in order to build from their language base. French-at-Campers participate in daily language sessions with others at the same level of proficiency. In addition to daily activities such as authentic French cooking, arts and crafts and sports, there will be an evening program every night: camp fire, French board games, singing, story telling and Theater play. The Camp will take place in beautiful Laredo Taft Recreational Center, two hours from Chicago in Oregon Illinois. This camp is ACA accredited ( American Camping Association). French at Camp provide a staff selected on the basis of experience and motivation, as well as skills in supervision, leadership, and positive role-modeling. Our program specialists in Music, Cooking, Creative Arts, Nature, Computer science, Arts and Crafts, Athletics and Waterfront Activities enrich our camp program as they share their knowledge and enthusiasm with French-at-Campers in their native language. These activities are a good start for learning new vocabulary and reinvesting knowledge later in the camp. In maturity, professional standing, sincerity of purpose, length of service and genuine interest in young people, French at Camp’s staff is of high quality and all counselors are native speakers.
