Friendly Pines Camp
Since 1941, Friendly Pines has provided fun with a purpose: to foster the personal growth of each camper in a happy, unregimented setting.
Located among the tall pines in the Bradshaw Mountains, the camp is just six miles from historic Prescott, Arizona.
Friendly Pines features separate villages for girls and boys, but has a single seating in the dining hall, maintaining the “family feeling” essential to the best camping experience.
Since we know that every camper’s interests are different, each camper gets to choose exactly what he/she wants to do. After selecting their personal favorites from a menu of over 30 fun-filled activities, a schedule is created that allows every individual to focus their camp experience on their particular interests and talents.
Our wide variety of competitive and non-competitive activities includes English and Western riding, pony driving, swimming, tennis, waterskiing, archery, arts and crafts, performing arts, fishing, team sports, hiking, rock climbing and climbing wall, and more. Safety and security for campers is the guiding principle by which we live at Friendly Pines. Our record of no serious accidents or incidents speaks for itself.
Our counselors are all college students or graduates whom we carefully screen, conduct professional background checks, drug test and fingerprint. This wonderful group of congenial and fun-loving individuals are mature and dedicated leaders as well, ready to make your young camper’s experience chock-full of life-long memories. In the cabins, we maintain camper to counselor ratios of 4 to 1 for the younger campers and no more than 8 to 1 for the oldest in camp. These low ratios help us provide the supervision necessary to insure a safe experience.
Finally, Friendly Pines has instituted the HERO program. (Honoring Everyone, Respecting Ourselves). This is essentially a program that attempts to reduce, if not elimate, bullying and other anti-social behavior.
Our goal is to achieve a camp community founded on mutual respect and tolerance for differences. Three generations of children from around the world have occupied the sun-dappled forest here at Friendly Pines, and we endeavor to offer campers of today the same wholesome, creative, stimulating camping experience that we offered in 1941.
