DescriptionBack to top

Friendship Center is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to help all, especially young people, to a greater knowledge, understanding and love of the world.

The concept of Friendship Center began in 1970 when a group of educators believed that a quiet, natural setting is ideal for any small community of learners to gather, study and aspire to achieve. Friendship Center has occupied its present location since 1975. Original funds for securing the property and erecting the building were primarily a donation from Isabel and Monroe Smith and Youth Argosy.

Friendship Center holds reading and nature camps for children a few weeks every summer. During the rest of the summer and at other times of the year, small, educational, religious or non-profit groups may rent the facilities weekdays, weekends or for longer periods of time. The camp offers an intimate, family-like setting for study, recreation and retreat.
