The Adventure Program was created to provide opportunities for area participants to learn outdoor skills and challenge themselves in an Adventure environment.  Our program utilizes outdoor experiences, such as the challenge course, rock climbing, backpacking, caving, canoeing, and kayaking to help teens gain self confidence, responsibility, self-awareness, problem solving, and decision making skills.  Each session offers campers opportunities to learn life-long recreation skills and promote the positive use of free time.

Session 1: Hill Country Adventure Sampler

Experience our Texas Hill Country like never before. The first week we’ll take day trips that include high ropes course, rock climbing, caving, canoeing, and rappelling.  The second week we’ll spend on a 3 day overnight camping trip which will include horseback riding, kayaking, and snorkeling.  If you want a small taste of our adventure program, then this is the camp for you.

Fee: $325 Resident; $350 Nonresident

 

Session 2: Arkansas Travel Camp

Join us for eight days of activities in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas.  Adventures include caving at Whirlpool Cave, rock climbing & rappelling at Sam’s Throne, horseback riding near Buffalo Point, and a 3 day canoe trip on the Lower Buffalo River.

Fee: $375 Resident; $400 Nonresident

 

Session 3: Colorado Travel Camp

This year we’re heading to Central Colorado for nine days of outdoor activities. Adventures include horseback riding near Colorado Springs, rock climbing at Castlewood Canyon, backpacking in the Sangre De Cristo Wilderness, and whitewater rafting on the Arkansas River.

Fee: $425 Resident; $450 Nonresident

 

Session 4: Extreme Water Sports

If you like staying cool in the hot summer, then this is the session for you.  The first week we’ll spend making day trips which include our challenge course, whitewater kayaking, snorkeling, wake boarding, and sailing.  The second week we’ll travel to Padre Island for some kayaking, fishing, and wind surfing.

Fee: $375 Resident; $400 Nonresident

 

The Hill Country Adventure Sampler and Extreme Water Sports camps will include five days of day adventures and a 3 day overnight camping experience.  These camps will include team building on our ropes course and daily snacks.  The daily programming for the first week will run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. (Some days may be extended). Campers who need early drop off and late pick-up will be able to exercise Teen Center membership privileges during the first week of camp.  They will be required to wear an Adventure Camp name tag and follow all facility rules.

 

The Arkansas and Colorado Travel Camps will consist of various adventure activities, overnight primitive camping, two nights of cabin/hotel lodging, and a service project.  Participants will be out of state for an eight or nine day period.
