Great Dog Camp K9 for Kids
Summer Address:

It is my pleasure to introduce you to Great Dog, and our upcoming Camp K-9 for Kids. Great Dog opened for Seattles canine community in February 2001. Our mission is to better enrich the lives of companion animals and the people who love them. We provide a wide array of opportunities for learning about and interacting with dogs. We focus a great deal on community education, and training. Our obedience classes include all family members, and are taught by professional trainers and educators.
This summer we are offering two sessions of Camp K-9 for Kids. We have designed a week-long learning environment for children ages 8-11 years of age who are dog enthusiasts. This day camp opportunity is from 9:00am - 3:30pm for five fun-filled dog days of summer. Camp structure will include developing a knowledge base about canine behaviors, basic obedience instruction, bite prevention training, learning how to teach dogs tricks, paw painting & educational games. We will focus on learning how to be part of a team that includes other children and dogs. Great Dog mascot and educator dog, Opie JRT, will be on hand through out the week to help illustrate the importance of safe dog interactions. Opie has been a guest educator at local schools and youth programs teaching a bite prevention program. He has become a favorite of local kids all over Seattle. Opie's handler and Camp Director, Judi Anderson-Wright, holds a duel MA in Education. She has extensie experience working with children and youth in schools, camps and dog obedience programs.
Tuition is $325 and includes instruction, a Camp T-shirt, a certificate of completion, a memory book and a lunch party on Friday. Camp size is limited to 10 children per session. Children are welcome to bring their own well-behaved dog* or will be matched up with a canine of our choice. All Great Dog mentor dogs are temperament tested, child safe and ready to make a childs camp experience fun-filled.
*Dogs must be able to successfully interact with children and other dogs. Eligible dogs must have a bite-free record, be crate trained, and up to date on vaccinations. All dogs will be temperament and behaviorally screened prior to admission into the program. This screening is included in the tuition.
