Why Choose Heartland Hockey Camps?

Owned and operated by former U.S. Olympian & NHL player, Steve Jensen, Heartland Hockey Camp is the only self-contained, privately owned hockey camp in the entire world. HHC is located in Deerwood, Minnesota, the "summer vacation land of the Midwest". The camp is situated on Portage Lake, featuring 1,800 feet of shore line and is surrounded by beautiful fresh water lakes, soaring tall pine trees and rolling hills.

Younger Campers

In 1985, Heartland Hockey Camp, in Deerwood, Minnesota, pioneered the concept of inviting parents to attend summer camp with their kids. Camp Owner & Director, Steve Jensen, recognized the need for younger aged campers, 3-8 years old, to have the emotional support of their parents while participating in a vigorous and highly competitive training environment. The Heartland Hockey Parent/Child Camps have become an overwhelming success, attracting hockey families as far away as Japan, Switzerland, Great Britain & Australia.

Did we mention it’s not only about Hockey?

The fresh water fishing is fabulous! We also provide all of our campers & family members with the opportunity to enjoy boating, water-skiing, knee-boarding, tubing, swimming, canoeing & kayaking. For your further water sport pleasure; our beachfront options also include our new 100 foot giant water slide, our 15 foot inflatable Iceberg, our 25 foot water trampoline and our brand new, 20 foot “Walk the Plank”! Our campus also features a tennis court, roller rink, miniature golf, a spacious weight-room, basketball court, power shooting range, sauna, jacuzzi, pro shop, snack bar and Movie Theater. We also have two beautiful 18-hole golf courses; both within a couple miles of our facility.

We look forward to the opportunity of providing your child with such a positive experience!

Great Camp 5 out of 5 stars

My eight year old has gone here for two summers now and each time has come back a much better hockey player. I was worried about sending him to a camp because he had never been away from us for more than a night, but we never heard from him all week. He was kept so busy I don't think he had time to miss home. He had so many great stories when he got back and will have those great memories for a life time. I would definately recomend this camp for any camper wanting to improve his/her hockey skills and have a great time doing it.

Hearland 5 out of 5 stars

Reviewed by: ksimmers, 2008-12-04 09:49:01 (Modified: 2008-12-04 00:00:00)

My son and I had attended a parent/child camp for the first time 7 years ago when he was 5 years old with 2 other parents and their child. They had such a great time and learned so much that we have attended for the last 7 years. The boys that have attended come back and have so many great stories about how much fun they have and how much they learned and developed to other players on their team that our group has grown over the years. For the 2009 camp our group has grown to 14 so far and keeps growing. They have meet so many new friends and coaches that they keep in contact with that when they go away to the tournaments that always look to see if any of their friends or coaches from camp will be there Heartland Hockey camp does not only teach skills to the players to become a better hockey player, but teaches responsibility, respect and discipline for every day life. The Coaching and staff member has been so polite, helpful and accommodating every year that we hate to leave and look forward to the next year. Steve and his wife run one awesome camp that I would defiantly recommend to anyone that has the love and passion for the greats sport on earth and as the camps favorite phrase goes “IT IS A GREAT DAY FOR HOCKEY” Kurt & Harley
