DescriptionBack to top

At Herron School of Art and Design's summer Youth Art Camp, kids age 5 – 16 will learn about visual arts through hands on experiences- including time in art studios.

Campers get the highest quality education! Herron is Indiana's only professional school of art and design. Located in the heart of Indianapolis, campers will enjoy not only the resources of Herron but the IUPUI campus and local museums and parks.

Why Herron Youth Art Camp?

  • Excellent Instruction - Herron alumni and award-winning junior and senior students with art education experience teach Youth Art Camp.
  • Individual attention - Classes are divided appropriately by age, and class size is limited to 20.
  • Great location - Camp takes place at Herron School of Art and Design's Eskenazi Hall, 735 W. New York St., within the IUPUI campus, and campers also visit the adjacent White River State Park.
  • Studio experience - Daily lessons focus on teaching imaginative thinking and creative visual processes as well as problem solving. Lessons are introduced with a presentation about particular artists, art movements or specific techniques followed by a studio art period and time to share and revise work.
  • Variety - Breaks for recreation and a snack are part of each day of camp.
  • Communication - Youth Art Camp newsletter is handed out daily to parents/families and tells about our art activities and lists any announcement.
  • Student recognition - Each week of art camp culminates with an art exhibition attended by students' families, friends and teachers.
  • Safety - Youth Art Camp has a thorough check-in and check-out system.
