DescriptionBack to top

Our program at Horizon Ranch is designed to help boys gain motivation, learn self-reliance skills, and build self-esteem. We offer a safe, rural environment on a working ranch in southern Nevada and run our program during the summer months.

We give our boys opportunities to show responsibility through the care of our ranch animals, fields, and facilities. Each boy will be given certain assigned chores and constructive projects through which he will learn and apply basic skills such as:

• Outdoor Cooking

• First Aid

• Leather Working

• Gardening

• Flag Etiquette

• Leadership Skills

• Goal Setting We integrate basic

LDS/Christian values into our program to promote respect, honesty, and morality. We combine outdoor exercise, ranch work, service projects, personal religious reading, and motivational seminars to teach skills, foster unity, and boost self-esteem.

We keep enrollment low (between 25 and 40) to ensure that each boy receives the personal attention he needs to advance through our program. Towards the end of the program each boy will have the opportunity to make his own leather project, whether it be a belt, moccasins, wallet, or even a scripture case!

Our hope is that the skills the boys develop and the experiences they have at Horizon Ranch will be beneficial to them throughout their lives.
