Kehilla Kayf

Where Everyone Feels Like They Belong

At Kehilla Kayf, we pride ourselves on providing an encouraging, accepting, fun and safe environment for your child.  The goal of camp is to develop or strengthen feelings of success, confidence, enthusiasm, and self-worth for each of our campers.  Our main focus is on social skill building. Every experience at Kehilla Kayf is designed to help develop increased self-esteem, heightened communication skills, improved peer interactions, and to encourage social appropriateness and personal independence.

Kehilla Kayf, a co-ed sleep away camp, partnering with Camp Poyntelle/Lewis Village, is located on 700 wooded acres in Wayne County, Pennsylvania. Building on the strengths of Camp Kehilla, our award winning day camp, pre-teens and teens ages 10 16 with attention deficit disorders and/or mild social skill disorders with or without learning disabilities, speech and language delays, emotionally handicapping conditions and other special needs, will experience the joys of attending a sleep-away camp while also benefiting from an inclusion program with mainstream campers.

CAMP KEHILLA DAY CAMP

In the Hebrew language, Kehilla means community, to the high functioning, Learning disables, speech and language delayed, Asperger's, emotionally handicapped and attention deficit children and teens of Nassau, Suffolk, Queens, Kehilla means a summer of fun and friendship.

Located on the beautiful 450 acre Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds in Wheatley Heights, Long IslandCamp Kehilla features 4 oversized outdoor pools, daily swims and day trips to exceited fun-filled places.  Recognizing the value of expressive therapies, children also participate in art therapy provided by licensed art therapists, as well as engage in drama, puppetry and music.

Our small groups and camper to counselor ratios enable us to provide the higher-functioning special needs child with personalized attention.  Supervised by social workers and special education professionals, our goal is to provide an exciting, fun-filled and positive summer experience while maintaining gains made by each child as a result of his/her regular education.
