L.E.A.P (Learning Enrichment Advancement Program) is a summer program offered by McMaster University Faculty of Engineering.

Why Come to L.E.A.P.?

Experience the exciting world of engineering!  No textbooks or tests necessary. The Learning Enrichment Advancement Program introduces high school students to the fundamentals of engineering through lectures, hands-on activities, labs, industry tours & projects.   Program incorporates activities that will develop leadership skills, ingenuity, creativity, and perseverance in combination with technical knowledge, enabling students to create solutions to multifaceted problems. LEAP focuses on expanding students' knowledge in an exciting and creative learning environment unlike any high school classroom. The students will be exposed to university life and learn what it truly means to be an engineer

 

LEAP is open to all Canadian and International students entering into grades 9 to 1st year university.  Students can choose from 5 course options:   Robotics & Mechatronics, Sustainable Mechanical & Civil Design, Biomedical Engineering, From Nano Materials To High Performance Components, Gaming in a Virtual World.   

 

Each course is divided into 2 modules, each with its own focus, giving students a more in-depth study of engineering concepts. Students have the choice of attending the program for either 2-week or 4-week duration. As well, students can choose to stay in an on-campus residence, and participate in after-class activities such as visiting some of the attractions in Hamilton and the surrounding areas.

 

In 2008 L.E.A.P. now offers 2 credit course options, HEAD START  1P03 & 1C03 for students going into 1st year of Engineering at McMaster.

 

L.E.A.P. looks forward to meeting a new group of students who bring with them a keen interest in engineering, problem solving, and teamwork!
