Summer Address:
Shanghai, Outside the US & Canada, ChinaLONG Mandarin Summer Camp gives students the opportunity to learn Chinese language and also immerse in the fascinating Chinese culture. We offer a unique combination of Chinese classes, culture activities as well as plenty of sightseeing. Students should arrive with an open mind, and be prepared to meet new people, experience new cultures and try amazing new foods.
Highlights of the Summer Camp:
- Learn Chinese language through 4 lessons per day, 5 days per week
- Culture immersion classes in Martial arts, cooking and calligraphy etc.
- Exciting evening activities such as Huangpu River cruise, acrobatic show etc.
- Plenty of sightseeing to Shanghai’s major attractions such as Pearl Tower, the Bund and some cities nearby such as Hangzhou and Suzhou.
- 12 to 15 students in each class ensuring students received individualized attention
- All levels of classes.
- Mixed Student body – Camp students come from different countries.
Program Components:
> Chinese language classes:
Each weekday for 4 lessons (40 min each), students will take intensive Chinese language classes which are taught by our dedicated teacher at LONG mandarin. There will be three levels of language classes depending on the student's request or ability of the Chinese language. The classes offer lectures on the Chinese language as well as instruction on written and oral communication. Students will be graded based on test results, completion of assignments and attendance. After the 4 weeks of classes and lectures, graduation ceremony will conclude with a banquet.
> Culture activities:
Chinese painting and calligraphy: This course introduces the basic of traditional Chinese Calligraphy & Painting under the guidance of a professional. This is a practice-study program. Chinese martial arts: The course will teach students the basic forms and routines of Chinese contemporary Wushu. Mingle with Chinese students: Activities with Chinese students and native speakers are held throughout the program in order to facilitate the use of Chinese and encourage cultural and social exchange. Activities may include: basketball, bowling nights, karaoke nights, movie nights and more.
> Evening activities:
In the evening, group outings will take place to see various shows and performances such as Peking Opera, acrobatics, Laoshe Teahouse, Chinese movies, Karoake and etc
> Excursions (weekday and weekend):
On weekends, students will tour the famous and historical sights in or surrounding Shanghai for the entire day. Huangzhou, Suzhou, Nanjing, Xi’tang, Oriental Pearl Tower, the Bund, Yuyuan Garden are some places the students will visit.
