DescriptionBack to top

Take Action Academy is an unforgettable week and a renowned leadership and volunteer overnight summer camp that blends leadership, social issues and friendships. Campers explore the worlds most pressing social issues through interactive leadership-building activities, intensive and practical workshops, games and thought-provoking discussion. At each of the weeklong Academies, participants get hands-on experience (and earn community service hours) volunteering for local organizations and bettering our communities during our Take Action Day. Academies run throughout the summer in five locations across North America: Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, New Brunswick and Palo Alto, California. Campers work with Me to Wes experienced Leadership Facilitators to come up with an Action Plan that will help them return home excited and prepared to make a positive difference in their schools, communities and our world. Many Academy participants act on their passion by volunteering at Free The Childrens annual We Day event, giving them the chance to deepen their interest in social issues and extend their networks of committed friends across Canada. Take Action Academy comes from a partnership between Free The Children, a charity devoted to youth empowerment and international development founded by childrens rights activist Craig Kielburger, and Me to We, a social enterprise that provides people with daily choices to change their world.
