DescriptionBack to top

The Mountains & Strings Chamber Music Retreat at Harriman State Park of Idaho is a unique combination of music and outdoor recreation. Nestled between Yellowstone National Park and the Teton Mountain Range, Harriman State Park is the perfect setting for young musicians to experience chamber music, friendship, and the beauty of nature. Students at the retreat are each assigned to a small chamber ensemble (Quartet or Trio) where they receive coaching throughout the week from the guest faculty and the retreat counselors. In addition to the small ensembles, all students participate in a chamber orchestra. Students also have the opportunity to attend master classes and participate in fiddling, viola, and cello choirs. Performances include the student quartet concert and the Mountains & Strings Chamber Orchestra concert in Harriman State Park. Outdoor activities during the week include daytime and evening hikes in Harriman State Park, outdoor barbecues, games, and initiative classes. This year the participants and staff will also attend a concert at the Grand Teton Music Festival. Join us this summer as we discover the treasures of Nature, Recreation, Friendship, and Beautiful Music.
