DescriptionBack to top

Through NHESs Humane Education Program, we strive to foster a sentiment of kindness to animals in children and adults. By nurturing the natural empathy that children feel toward other living beings, NHES hopes to instill in them kindness and respect toward their fellow humans as well as the animals who share their lives.

Each summer, NHES offers the Cool To Care Camp for children entering grades 4-8. Campers have a terrific time each week as they participate in a variety of activities, such as:

  • Guest speakers and animal friends
  • A tour the adoption facility
  • Introduction to adoptable cats and dogs
  • Introduction to animal careers and humane action activities
  • Games, drama, and learning activities
  • Animal-related crafts and arts
  • Light snacks and drinks

On each Friday of the 2008 camps (June 27 and July 25), campers will present self-created skits about animals!  Parents, relatives, friends, and neighbors are invited to join us at 1pm each Friday for an hour of fun and drama!
