Music and Performing Arts Professions at NYU Steinhardt offers a wealth of courses and special programs for precollege and undergraduate students and young professional performers throughout the summer in the areas of music performance, music theatre, acting, music technology, and music business. Offerings include the following:

 

One- to Three-Week Performance Intensives for advanced high school and college student performers:

-          Jazz Guitar Intensive (July 19-August 5, 2010)

-          Jazz Improvisation Workshop (June 28-July 15, 2010)

-          Spanish Vocal Music Intensive (July 19-August 6, 2010)

 

Second Annual NYU Summer String Quartet Competition (July 1-2, 2010)

 

Summer on Broadway: Music Theatre Workshop, a two-week intensive for precollege and college-level performers (June 28-July 14, 2010)

 

What Makes a Star: Music Business Summer Institute for high school students. Spend a week in New York City learning from professional star makers in the music business (June 28-July 2)

 

Summer Institute in Music Technology: A two-week workshop for high school students who wish to learn the fundamentals of music technology (July 5-16, 2010)

 

Looking for Shakespeare: High school students work with a professional director and NYU Steinhardt graduate students to stage an original Shakespeare production (June 28-July 25, 2010)

 

-          Interactive Multimedia Performing Arts Collaborative Technology (IMPACT) workshop: Three-week intensive experience through collaborations in dance, music, multimedia, and arts technology (July 19-August 6, 2010)
