Northland Youth Music Program
Our summer education program includes four single-week sessions. Concert Band and Choir are offered the first two weeks; the Jazz band is offered the last two weeks. Students may attend one or all four weeks.
Concert Band: This Band Program offers high-quality large ensemble work with qualified instructors. Rehearsal includes large and small ensemble work, sectionals, private lessons, and classes (history, theory, musicianship, and sight-reading to name a few). Students are chosen to be in one of our three bands. Enrollment closes at 200 students per week.
Mixed Choir: The Choir Program offers instruction in large ensembles (SAB and SATB) and small ensembles (SSA and TTBB), as well as private lessons, sectionals, history, theory, and sight singing. Choir students may bring a prepared song or aria to maximize learning in private voice lessons. Enrollment closes at 125 students per week.
Jazz Band: The Jazz Program offers students an opportunity to learn how to listen to and play in jazz ensembles. Students who would like to try their hand at small ensemble work can do so in our jazz combos. All instruments (including strings) are welcome at this program. Enrollment closes at 150 students per week.
****Percussion students must have played set in school or had lessons on set for one year to attend the summer jazz program.
