Northwaters Wilderness Program
Since 1971 our organization has worked with groups and individuals of all experience levels. Our authentic wilderness adventures have earned us international recognition for their experiential programming and for the development of outstanding young leaders.
From our picturesque Island Basecamp in the heart of the Temagami Forest Reserve, Northwaters offers separate canoe tripping programs for coed youth and girls. Our wilderness canoe trips take us through some of the most rugged and beautiful country in the world including Temagami, north eastern
We believe in teaching young people how to be with the land, the water and the sky, how to be with one another, and ultimately how to be with themselves. We believe that our canoe trips are an excellent metaphor for life's journey and represent an important rite of passage into adulthood. While the experience is challenging, it is not about conquering rivers or mountains. Emphasis is rather upon learning from the land in a spirit of balance and respect. We find that people return to Northwaters because it represents a unique blend of adventure and personal growth in a highly supportive environment.
