Ocean Blue Education
Ocean Blue strives to stretch the limits of education by putting a piece of the ocean’s future into the hands of young people who are passionate about marine science. There is no better way to broaden the awareness of the ocean world and yourself, than by experiencing life at sea. Living aboard a ship means leaving the familiar behind and taking the exciting unknown head on.
It is the dynamic combination of doing current ocean research while learning marine biology in an underwater classroom that opens a window of opportunity, both personally and globally.
The bonds formed with fellow shipmates, the skills gained for the future and the positive effect made on the ocean, will extend beyond this lifetime.
From sailing the boat to cooking the meals, and yes even swabbing the deck, students will be living the life of a field biologist during our 20 day voyage. This new and different atmosphere places everyone on the same level, creating self-confidence, connectedness and a sense of pride. The difference between OBE and other summer programs is that we go beyond personal character development and actively involve our students in the changing world around them. Your child will feel the pride that comes from taking part in our ocean’s future. Their involvement in ongoing research will help develop skills that they will use throughout their student careers. Thank you for making a difference in your child’s future, and thank you for choosing Ocean Blue Education.
