About Us

Ottley Music School (OMS) is a multi-faceted musical learning institution that offers private lessons in piano, organ, voice, stringed instruments, percussion, woodwinds, and world instruments. OMS has trained many successful citizens in all walks of life, and also renowned musicians over the past 35 years, some of which have returned after graduating from institutions of higher learning to serve as instructors or as advisors, or on the Board of Directors of the School.

We invite you to bring your child, grandchild, grandparent, spouse (or important other), a relative, or yourself to enrich yours and their quality of life by doing something they need to do, and/or you have wanted to do for yourself. Ottley Music School has many programs to ensure that you and/or or child's musical course of study is complete, competitive, broad and varied. Please use the navigation bar to the left to see which musical course is right for you or your child.

2008 Summer Camps, Institute, and Private Lessons

Daytime Summer Camps and Institute are in three (3) 2-week sessions from June 30 through August 8, 2008 daily from 8:30 am through 4:30 pm, Mon-Fri. Limited to 30 campers each session, ages 7 years to 18 years old. Registration for all students is required. Students not already enrolled in OMS who attend camps may attend OMS till June 2009 on the same enrollment fee.

Registration: January and February 2008. Placement is on a first come, first served basis only. Registration Fee: $35 the first person per family, $30 the 2nd person, $25 each additional in same family

Session I, June 30-July 11: BEGINNERS Piano & Instrumental Camp, 0-3 years music study

Session II, July 14-25: Intermediate & Advanced Piano & Instrumental Camp, 4+ years study

Session III, July 28-August 8: Voice, Drama and Dance Institute, 2 years of study in one of the 3 required. This camp is for students learning how to sing, breathing techniques, enunciation, musical interpretation, projection, and drama in singing, dance, music theory and steel drums.

RECITALS: There will be recitals on the last Friday of each 2 weeks of the Sessions I, II and III. All students participating in the camps including Sessions IV and V, (Jazz and Steel Drum evening camps) and Voice, Drama and Dance Institute are required to participate. Students in the Music for Little Mozarts classes and in Private Lessons may also participate in at least one of the recitals.

CONCERT: Depending on the level of the proficiency of the registrants of Sessions II and III, there may be presented a concert opened to the public for a nominal fee. That will be determined when all registration forms are complete, and the faculty can evaluate the students. Participants will be notified in advance.

TUITION: Sessions I, II, III tuition

  • $469 for the first student in the family,
  • $449 for the second, and
  • $429 for each additional in the same family living in the same household.

Session IV, July 7-August 1, 2008 Steel Drum Camp is an evening camp for 4 weeks, Monday and Wednesday, 6:30-8:30 pm. Limited to 14 students (without instruments), 4-6 additional students with their own pans are welcomed. Former knowledge of the pan is not necessary, but knowledge of music is helpful. Students are taught music reading skills, technical skills for playing the pans, and ensemble work. For adults, teens, children.

Session V, July 10-August 3, Jazz Camp is an evening camp, Tuesday and Thursday, 6:00-8:00 pm 4 weeks for adults, teens, children who already have 2 years singing experience or 3 years playing studies.

TUITION: Sessions IV & V Tuition

  • $399 for the first student,
  • $379 for the second student,
  • $359 for the 3rd and any additional student in the same household for 4 weeks. 

  Music for Little Mozarts Preschool classes. For students aged 4 to 6 years of age (whose fine motor skills have begun to develop--can move individual fingers), this course meets twice weekly for all 6 weeks of the summer, Tue and Thu, 6:00-6:55 pm. Morning or early pm classes are available upon request, 11:00-11:55 am or 2:00-2:55 pm. Minimum 7 students in each class. A parent or guardian must attend the class with the student, not more than 2 children to one adult. The class participates in one of the recitals during the summer, usually the August recital.

TUITION: Music for Little Mozarts Classes-- $300 + $68 materials for each child besides the registration fee.

Private Lessons Six weeks of private lessons will be offered in voice, piano, organ, all strings, guitars, harp, drums, woodwinds, brasses, music theory, steel drums-tuition same in the school year. However, because it is the summer, and vacation is expected, students can register for 3, 4, 5, or 6 weeks of lessons. This is open to students of all ages from 5 years old to senior citizens. Students may participate in the field trips (for a nominal fee) and in one or more of the three recitals performed in the summer session (for free).

TUITION: Private Lessons

  • $35.00 per ˝ hour lesson,
  • $52.50 for 3/4 hour lesson, and
  • $70.00 per hour. Registration for all students is required.

All Summer School Campers and Students may continue in private lessons or Little Mozart Classes in the school year without paying another registration, but they must fill in a school year registration form to be scheduled.
