Join our family-owned and operated Outdoor Adventure Camp in beautiful, history rich Harpers Ferry, West Virginia for an amazing week that you’ll never forget! This special program attracts all types of children!

Your week is fun and educational. Children will have the opportunity to participate in all of the activities that we offer at River Riders. In addition during their free time, we'll teach them the basics of guiding and river safety. Goals for your child include: increased confidence, learning, building character, sense of accomplishment, fun, and friendship.

Activities include white water rafting, tubing, kayaking, canoeing, biking, and hiking on the beautiful Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers (class I-III) in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia where Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia come together. Your weeks will include a unique opportunity to visit four National Park Service entities Harpers Ferry National Park, Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Park, Potomac National Heritage Trail, and Appalachian National Scenic Trail.

Adventure Weeks    
Trip: NEW! Adventure Weekends
Location: Harpers Ferry, WV
Description: Adventure weekends are offered in the spring and fall for campers, and on some weekends parents, to enjoy the activities that we offer in shorter sessions during the school year.

Adventure Weeks    
Trip: Adventure Weeks
Location: Harpers Ferry, WV
Description: Adventure weeks that occur every other week are the camps that are the corp of our program. These camps offer campers the opportunity to participate in all of the activities that we offer at River Riders - rafting, tubing, kayaking, canoeing, and biking. Minimum age is 9. Grades 4-11.

hiking and biking week    
Trip: Hiking and Biking Week
Location: Harpers Ferry, WV
Description: Hiking and biking week- focuses on hiking and biking the trails in the Harpers Ferry area. The week will include extended hiking and biking trips we don’t run on our regular adventure weeks. We’ll also do an an overnight out of the immediate area. Some water activities will be included in the week as well. Minimum age is 9. Grades 4-11.
Dates: incorporated into adventure weeks
Duration: 5 days with Thursday overnight

 

kayak week    
Trip: Kayak intensive week
River: Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers
Location: Harpers Ferry, WV
Description: Kayak intensive week- focuses on learning to whitewater kayak. This is a physically challenging week that will develop campers kayaking abilities. Campers who develop the skills will be paddling decked whitewater kayaks by the end of the week. Minimum age 11.

junior guide week    
Trip: Junior Guide Week
River: Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers
Location: Harpers Ferry , WV
Description: Junior guide week is our veteran campers week. Campers must have attended at least one other camp week at River Riders to participate. The week will focus on teaching campers the skills necessary to guide a raft. Campers who successfully complete this week will be eligible for employment at River Riders at age 16. This week has an overnight option on Thursday. Minimum age 11.
Dates: July 24th-28th 2006
Duration: 5 days plus overnight option

 

Campers Choice Week    
Trip: Campers Choice Week
Location: Harpers Ferry, WV
Description: Campers choice week gives campers the ability to pick the daily activities. Every camper has their favorite activity that they have participated in at camp and this week gives them the decision making ability. Activities will be decided by a democratic vote of the campers each day. Minimum age is 9. Grades 4-11.
Dates: August 7th-11th 2006
Duration: 5 days including overnight
