Powerful Voices For Kids
Summer Address:

The mission of the Powerful Voices for Kids program is to strengthen children's abilities to think for themselves, communicate effectively using language and technology tools, and use their powerful voices to contribute to the quality of life in their families, their schools, their communities, and the world. During the spring of 2011, Temple graduate students worked as classroom mentors, helping nearly a dozen Wayne Elementary School teachers integrate media literacy and digital technology into project-based learning activities. The program was sponsored by a generous grant from the Radnor Educational Foundation. Some final products Students enrolled in Powerful Voices For Kids summer program created over 20 multimedia projects including comic books, video games, websites, fiction and documentary films, public service announcement, original songs and music remixes, and written work including news articles, essays, web content, and short stories. Yet the program is not entirely classroom based, does hasve a healthy balance of physical activity for the children also. “One parent… said the program was life changing for her daughter, and was directly responsible for her daughters newfound sense of focus and drive in her school work”
