Summer 2007 Sessions
Session One: June 17-30
Session Two: July 1-14
Tuition is $2,400 (ask about financial assistance!)
Our two summer sessions are open to female students entering 10th and 11th grades. The hands-on, project-based curriculum integrates art, science and service learning around the theme of nature and understanding one's place in the web of life.
During each two-week session, students attend morning and afternoon art and science classes. After a rigorous day of learning, students have recreational options such as swimming, frisbee, soccer, hiking, journaling, reading, or games. In the evening, students are welcome to organize movies, talent shows, debates, and book groups or socialize in the common room. At SASS, young women are given choice, independence, and trust.
Included in the learning experience is a weekly excursion to a San Francisco museum or an expedition to a State Park. At the end of each session, students carry out service leaning projects that benefit the greater community.
SASS is located at Mills College campus on the east shore of the San Francisco Bay. We are just minutes away from San Francisco, Berkeley, and downtown Oakland-- diverse cultural centers that make the Bay Area such a rich and exciting place.
