Salem Classical Fencing Cadet and Musketeer Camps
Summer Address:
We have several different camps to choose from, depending on your age and interests:
Cadet Camps (ages 13-18)
These are for older campers, and are geared towards the beginning fencer. We will teach the basic techniques and strategies for the beginning foil fencer. We focus on form over competitiveness, but not to worry - by the end of the week you'll be fencing other campers!
Musketeers Camps (ages 8-12)
These camps are for our younger campers who are just beginning to learn how to fence. Our instructors will teach the basics of fencing, play fencing games, have a snack, and do some crafts. We will structure the day for all levels and abilities.
Specialty Camps
Competitive Epee Camp (ages 12-18)
This camp is open to fencers who have been fencing epee for at least one year or have been in our Youth Epee League. We will offer an in-depth look at the skills and tactics of epee, and develop the fencer's competitive edge. (Homestay available - add $100.)
Middle School Camp (entering grades 6-8)
This camp is geared towards the beginning middle-school fencer who is thinking about joining our Middle School Fencing League in September, and who has never fenced before. We'll get you ready for the season so you can make your school proud! (Also open to students not participating in the League.)
Skills & Tactics: Foil (ages 12-18)
Fencers who have completed Intro I or have been in our middle or high school fencing leagues are eligible to participate in the Skills & Tactics: Foil half-day camp. Students will go into considerable depth exploring the skills and tactics associated with this discipline. Equipment will be provided as needed.
