Session I- Technical Theatre Intensive (Two Weeks)

This exciting two-week course will expose interested technical theatre students to the wide range of jobs and techniques for creating  the "world of play" on stage. Learning from professionals in the field, students will work side-by-side with set designers from drafting to drilling, scenic artists on color selection and scenic painting techniques, lighting professionals on focusing lights, and stage management techniques for the summer production of Hairspray.  This experience teaches lessons in teamwork and dedication that are not only skills for technical theatre, but skills for life.

Session II - Musical Theatre Intensive (Four Weeks)

The Fourth Annual Summer Theatre Intensive is reaching new heights in the Summer of 2011. Students will spend the first three weeks in intense preparation for their roles in this summer’s production of the hit musical Hairspray. During daily rehearsals with our talented production staff, students will work in an environment that is comparable to the professional theatre. This is not theatre for the faint of heart.
Students will spend their days dancing, singing, acting, and most commonly, laughing! While we have a strict jam-packed schedule, our staff loves their work and their enthusiasm for doing quality theatre is infectious. Our out-of-town campers will enjoy night time activities with resident assistants and staff (open to locals as well) and weekend day trips to experience the beautiful city which we call our summer home.
This year we are excited to offer “Fourth Week.” This additional week of camp will be comprised of guest artist workshops introducing students to stage combat, scene design, a Fosse master class, audition techniques and a fun cabaret performance for the local theatre community which will benefit a charity of the cast’s choice.
