Shakespeare Summer Camp
Summer Address:

Shakespeare Summer Camp is a one-week theater day camp for middle school and high school students who want to learn more about the art of theatre. Campers work with members of the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company Acting Ensemble throughout the week, learning the basics of acting, stage combat, movement, and text analysis for the actor. This exciting camp has grown into a three-tiered program for students of all levels of experience. Hosted by Xavier University in the Gallagher Student Center, Shakespeare Summer Camp introduces students to all aspects of professional theater in a beautiful and modern facility.

Camp I: Generation Shakespeare
June 8 - 12, 2009, 9am - 5pm
Performance for Family and Friends on Friday, June 12 at 7:00pm at the Gallagher Student Center
Generation Shakespeare includes beginner's classes in acting, combat, text analysis, and movement. Open to students who have completed 6th or 7th grade. Recommended for first-time campers.
Camp II: Random Acts of Shakespeare
June 15 - 19, 2009, 9am - 5pm
Performance for Family and Friends on Friday, June 19 at 7:00pm at the Gallagher Student Center
Random Acts of Shakespeare allows students to study scenes in-depth from Shakespeare's comedies. Aspects of technical theatre like sets, costumes, and props are also explored. Students must audition for this program for role assignment in early May 2009.
Open to students who have completed 7th - 9th grade, or who have completed one semester or more of Groundlings Jr.
Camp III: The Shakespeare Intensive
June 22 - 26, 2009, 9am - 5pm
Performance for Family and Friends on Friday, June 26 at 7:00pm at the Gallagher Student Center
In The Shakespeare Intensive, campers will stage scenes from the Bard's romances, tragedies, and comedies with special emphasis on text and acting. Must commit to memorizing roles in advance and audition for role assignment in early May 2009. Open to students who have completed 10th-12th grade, or who have completed one year or more of Groundlings.
Pricing
$250 per camper
Sibling discount: 2 campers for $450 (Campers need not attend the same session to receive discount.)
Some scholarships available through an application process. Scholarship information will be posted in February 2009.
