Sampler Camp: This program is for beginner riders. We will sample some of the different riding styles. We will also do crafts, play sports and learn equine related things.
Monday: Western
Tuesday: Dressage
Wednesday: Field Day (surprise trip)
Thursday: Jumping
Friday: Show for family and friends
Advanced Beginner Camp
This program is for the advanced beginner, a rider who has taken a few lessons and is confident controlling their horse at a walk and trot. Through various fun exercises we will work on lower leg stability, posting diagonals, ring figures and beginning to prepare to jump. Un-mounted activities will include, Barn management, Show Grooming, Braiding, Arts & Crafts. The list goes on. There will be a trip on Wednesday and a Friday show for family and friends.
Week 4 Intermediate Rider Hunt Seat
This program is for the intermediate rider who can confidently control their horse at a walk and trot and has begun to cantor or is ready to canter. Riders must have an assessment lesson to be admitted into this program or be presently taking lessons at Durango Farms. This program will extensively cover the hunt seat discipline we will have mounted classes, learning what the judge is looking for as well as classes on mental readiness for showing, additionally we will have cover topics such: Barn Management, Equine Health, Horse shoeing, and Horse training.
There will be a trip on Wednesday and a Friday show for family and friends.
Advanced Intermediate rider: Hunter/Jumpers:
Program is for the Advanced intermediate rider: Riders must be confident at a walk, trot and canter. Riders must have some experience jumping small courses. An assessment lesson must be taken or a Durango Farms instructor
We will have group lessons on the flat and over fences. Each camper will have at least 1 private lesson during the week.
Un-mounted classes will cover: Equine Health, Barn Management, Instructing Techniques, Lunging, Horse show prep and the list goes on
Riders will prepare throughout the week for a show on Friday.
Advanced Camp: for the accomplished rider, will cover Jumping, showmanship, equine knowledge and horse training.
