The Starrynight Ranch is a Horse centered camp. Julie Phillips is the host of our small home-like camp. She has 40 years of equestrian experience and 10 years of camp experience. She instructs equestrian students year round and her horsemanship skills are first class. Julie also has a special gift in interacting with kids (and dogs, horses, cats, etc.) and they all love her.
Our camps revolve around horses and start with ground work, grooming and care and evolve to any level the rider is able to reach. We have 1000's of private acres and 10's of 1000's of public acres to ride in. The ranch also has some cows to ride and goats to chase.
Our ranch is located at the headwaters of the Gallina River and the area is full of Indian and Spanish heritage. Chaco Canyon is an hour drive and we are only a few miles from the Jicarilla Apache Indian Reservation. The area was home to the Gallina Anazazi, The Tewa, and the Apache before and during the Spanish years.
The
Starrynight Ranch offers week long western horsemanship camps for kids and riding vacations for people of all ages. We are located only an hour and a half from Albuquerque. We
provide the horses, lodging, food and riding all day in the beautiful Santa Fe National Forest. There is local swimming,
fishing, hiking and hot springs.
Our focus is on all day riding, ground work and care of horses. We offer a total learning experience of everything horse related. In the evening we watch educational videos to improve our skills and knowledge. This is the perfect experience for people of all ages that have a deep love for horses.
